  Southern Tomato Gravy!

What is Tomato Gravy?

Growing up eating tomato gravy
Southern Homemade Biscuits and Tomato Gravy was a popular meal at our house growing up.  In fact it was one of my favorite meals.  I couldn't hardly wait for Daddy's tomatoes to get big and ripe so we could pick them from the vine for Mothers fresh tomato gravy.

Mother and Daddy would always can lot's of tomatoes along with other things from the garden; to hold us over for the winter. We would always have that fresh tomato taste for soups, stews, swiss steak; just to name a few. In the winter she would even open a jar of canned tomatoes to make us winter tomato gravy too!  Add a trickle of golden eagle syrup on top of the biscuits & tomato gravy and your in heaven!

In the South we grew up on eating lots of fried foods such as fried chicken and fried pork chops, or foods in general that was cooked in a lot of lard or oil.  We also grew up on eating homemade biscuits with most of our meals because it is very common to sop your bread in all the grease and gravies the foods are cooked in.  A lot of finger licking goes on in the South!
